Isle of Wight children competed in a revived angling competition.

Isle of Wight Freshwater Angling Company hosted its first junior competition in many years, bringing together 15 young anglers on Minnow Lake in Merstone on Sunday, October 27.

Fishing began at 10am, and the final weigh-in took place at 2pm.

First place went to Dottie Wagstaff, while second place was awarded to Vanya Warren and third place to Adam Munns.

Trophies were given out to the top three, every participant received fishing equipment and regular match competitors provided young anglers with money to invest in tackle.

A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Freshwater Angling Company said: "The Company extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone within the membership who generously donated prizes, making this event possible.

"The success of the competition highlights the importance of nurturing the next generation of anglers and fostering a love for fishing in our community."
