An Isle of Wight MP has slammed the government's health and social care funding in his latest House of Commons speech.
Joe Robertson, MP for Isle of Wight East, took the government to task on Tuesday (November 5) in reaction to last week's budget announcement, taking aim at the disparity between NHS funding and funding for social care.
In the budget debate, the Member of Parliament spoke about the budget's "dire impact on health and social care".
He said that the budget would result in increased pressure on the social care sector, mentioning GP practices, pharmacies, dentists, charities and hospices.
He said: "These organisations, charities, and businesses thought they might have a friend in the Labour Government but they don’t feel the Government is their friend right now.

"I have been speaking to GP Practices on the Isle of Wight in my constituency, and one Practice said to me that the increase on tax from this budget is the equivalent of a salary for a practice nurse – there will be no new practice nurse for us."
He also said there would be no shame if the Labour government made changes to fix "this gross problem with their own budget."
Joe Robertson serves on the Commons Health and Social Care Select Committee.
Social care will receive £600 million in the new budget.
There will be an additional £22.6 billion of resource spending for the day-to-day health budget of the NHS over the next two years.
