The Isle of Wight's MPs have been reacting to Donald Trump's win in the US presidential election.
The 45th President of the United States is now also the 47th, having claimed victory over Democrat and current Vice President, Kamala Harris.
Despite what he called "obvious concerns over the rhetoric used by the Republican party throughout the campaign", Richard Quigley, Labour MP for Isle of Wight West, said the democratic process must be respected.
Reacting to President Trump's victory, he said: "The PM has sent his congratulations to President-elect, Donald Trump.
"The US is one of our oldest allies and our government will continue to maintain that special relationship, focusing on our shared values and priorities – including democracy, international security, and growth.
"There are obvious concerns over the rhetoric used by the Republican party throughout the campaign. But we need to respect the democratic process and the voice of the electorate.

"Our government will be focused on what the result means to the UK and building on areas of cooperation in the years ahead.”
Meanwhile, Conservative and MP for Isle of Wight East, Joe Robertson, said the UK Government must work constructively with the democratically elected president of one of our closest allies, "regardless of whether it agrees with him or not."
He said: "The American people have spoken.
"Global security will continue to rely on a strong trans-Atlantic Alliance and regardless of who is President and Prime Minister our two countries must maintain our strong and historic ties."
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Keir Starmer congratulated the President on his victory.
