The Isle of Wight’s Medina Theatre is gearing up for the festive season as it welcomes back Made to Measure Productions for its highly anticipated annual pantomime.
This year, the spotlight falls on Aladdin, with nine shows between December 21 to 30 offering audiences a vibrant trip to Old Peking, filled with comedy, music and theatrical magic.
Made to Measure Productions has become a staple of the Island's Christmas period, with Aladdin marking the team's fourth consecutive year performing at Medina.
Building on the acclaim of last year’s Sleeping Beauty, the upcoming show promises even more spectacle and fun.
Scriptwriter and performer Lee Redwood, who has crafted the show’s storyline, describes this year’s performance as their “richest yet,” complete with stunning scenery, vibrant costumes, and surprises like a flying genie.
Returning to the stage is beloved panto performer Chay Anton, known for his madcap comedy on the Medina stage as Muddles in Sleeping Beauty and Dame Trott in Jack and the Beanstalk.
This Christmas, Anton will play Wishy Woshy, a character sure to deliver his trademark humour and lively antics.
Alex Oliver, cast as Widow Twankey, promises to captivate with sharp comedic timing and over-the-top outfits.
Fans of last year’s production will also recognise Grace Elizabeth Cooper, who shifts from her role as the villainous Carabosse to portray Scheherazade.
Meanwhile, Chaz Murray steps into the shoes of Abanazer, the story’s villain, ready to draw jeers and laughs with a mischievous performance.
The entire cast is eagerly awaiting the chance to bring Lee's lively script to life.
Before opening night, they will spend a few days perfecting their performances in the studio and under stage lights to ensure audiences enjoy a flawless show.
To secure your spot on the flying carpet, visit the Medina Theatre website and make sure Aladdin is one of your three wishes this holiday season!
