A COUPLE from the Isle of Wight have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Neville and Eileen Carr, who met at a bus stop outside Totton Police Station in 1963, have been happily married for 60 years.

Neville was a new police constable at the time — often seeing Eileen waiting for the bus outside the station.

He got to know her name, then one day they ended up on the same bus. They got chatting, and Neville asked Eileen to a party.

They tied the knot a year later and the rest is history.

The couple said the secret to their long marriage is "tolerance, shared interests and family".

They marked their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday last week (October 31), and received a card from King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Neville and Eileen have three children and six grandchildren.
