The Isle of Wight's floating bridge has once again been suspended this morning (Tuesday).

A cable on the vessel is in need of being replaced, the Isle of Wight Council has said.

Blaming the 'usual operational wear and tear', the authority said the chain ferry was pulled from service at 5am.

It is not yet known when it will be back in service.

A spokesperson said: "We apologise for any inconvenience and will update you as we know more."

Engineers will be on site from 9am working to fix the problem.

A launch service for foot passengers, the Jenny Lee, is running in its place.
