As a frequent visitor to the Isle of Wight, in particular, I have recently returned from a holiday in Shanklin and I am very concerned by the lack of public toilets along the seafront, from the closed toilets at Chine Buff, to the cliff lift.

The two erected by the lift, at considerable expense, are welcome, but totally inadequate.

There are two cafes and numerous beach huts along this stretch of beach.

In order to survive and encourage families to this resort, which is essential to the tourist economy of the Island, it is necessary to provide adequate toilet facilities.

I have previously written to the-then MP, Bob Seely, the Isle of Wight Council and Shanklin Town Council and, to date, have not received any response.

I am aware that council budgets are restricted, but providing adequate public toilets is essential to tourism on the Isle of Wight.

Please, readers, give your support to  reinstating the toilets at Chine Buff.
