A special field of remembrance service is heading to a much loved Isle of Wight attraction next week.

On Thursday, November 7, HM Lord-Lieutenant will once again host the annual Field of Remembrance service at Carisbrooke Castle.

Gates to castle will open at 10.15am with the service beginning at 10.50am.

The service will comprise 15 minutes and will be led by Newport and Carisbrooke’s Reverend Steve Sutcliffe.

It will end with an opportunity for attendees to plant a remembrance cross, available at the castle, with proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.

Members of the public are welcome.

Following the service, visitors are invited to view the new World War II memorial in the Church of St Nicholas.

The memorial, with the names of all those from the Isle of Wight who died during the Second World War, sits alongside the existing memorial of those from the Island who died during The Great War.

The project started in 2018 and has been funded by various endowments and charities.
