Network Rail is warning that a partial closure of a busy Isle of Wight route is in the near future, as it looks to carry out some snagging on its newly refurbished railway bridge.
Earlier today (Friday), at 1.30pm, Avenue Road reopened following works to remove and renew the old span of the bridge over Avenue Road, and to alter the electric rail which powers the trains around Sandown Station.
The road was closed in both directions, from its junction with Tamar Close to its junction with Perowne Way.
The closure was necessary for what Network Rail described as essential engineering work.

However, while the bridge has passed all safety inspections, some further work is needed to correct some minor defects, Network Rail has revealed.
A further lane closure is expected midway through November so Network Rail can apply some finishing touches to the infrastructure.
Dates are to be revealed in the near future.
