Horse Box Theatre is bringing a special musical to Shanklin Theatre next week.

Presenting Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard, it is the group’s biggest show yet.

Horse Box Theatre has gone from strength to strength, riding the wave of sell-out performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Quay Arts and Ryde Boy at Department.

Its latest show promises another unforgettable night packed with powerful performances, dazzling dance routines and a stunning soundtrack.

Director, Joe Plumb, takes the helm on this new production.

His previous musicals include the sell-out run of Oliver! at the Apollo Theatre, The Last Five Years and Six: Teen Edition at Department.

The faded star of the silent screen era is living in the past, in her decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street.

Charles Johnson, who is no stranger to the stage at Shanklin Theatre, plays the struggling screenwriter Joe Gillis.

When Joe accidentally crosses paths with Norma, she sees an opportunity to make her return to the big screen, with romance and tragedy to follow.

The role of Max von Maylering is played by Steve Jones, and Ashleigh Mackness, who played Cait in Ryde Boy and Cathy in The Last Five Years, plays Joe's writing partner, Betty Schaefer.

The beating heart of Joe Plumb’s new production is its talented all-female ensemble.

Musical director, Steve Burton, is responsible for the live orchestra. Joe Alabaster is choreographer.
