Chess Grandmasters are set to compete in an Isle of Wight tournament.
The Wightlink Isle of Wight Chess Masters will take place from Tuesday, February 18, to Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Ryde School.
Players from across the world will take part, including Shreyas Royal, Jovi Houska, Daniel Fernandez and Keith Arkell.
35 Masters are registered, including 12 Grandmasters.
There will also be several events for amateurs, including a Blitz tournament to face the Grandmasters.
The tournament comes after the success of the Wightlink Isle of Wight Chess Congress, a sold-out event that attracted 72 players.
The event will feature live commentary, media coverage and opportunities for attendees to meet the players.
American Chess Master and streamer James Canty will stream all his games live to his followers.
Tournament director David Lightfoot said: “We are thrilled to bring the Isle of Wight Chess Masters to life.
"This event is not only about showcasing the skills of elite players but also about fostering a love for the game in our local community and beyond.
"We invite everyone to join us for what promises to be a memorable celebration of chess.”
