For nature lovers looking for countryside views and scenic coastlines, here is the 6.3-mile trail from Compton Farm and through the Isle of Wight’s beautiful south coast.

The walk promises breathtaking views, historical insights and a close encounter with the Island’s natural beauty.

Starting from the free National Trust Compton Bay car park, the trial begins by weaving past an old farmhouse at Compton Farm.

As you ascend the byway F55, the climb opens up to panoramic views of the coastline.

The trail leads you across fields and a copse through bridle gates and onto Brook Down.

With a mix of gentle slopes and rugged paths, the route offers a taste of the Island’s diverse landscapes.

One of the highlights is the descent into Mottistone Down, where the route intersects with the Tennyson Trail.

This path, lined with ancient trees and flanked by woodland, gives a peaceful breather as it heads towards Hulverstone.

Here, the path briefly opens onto the road near The Sun Inn, a traditional pub perfect for a mid-walk refreshment or a chance to recharge.

After passing the Old School, the path continues along quiet lanes and through open fields.

As the walk nears its end, Coastguard Lane leads walkers toward Compton Grange.

This final stretch offers some of the most breathtaking views, where the grassy cliffs of the coastal path meet the low eroded cliff edges that drop dramatically to the sea below.

Following the coastal edge, the trail concludes at the Compton car park, a finish that brings you full circle through some of the Island’s most unforgettable landscapes.
