The Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra will be joined by a renowned pianist for their upcoming concert.
The concert, taking place on Saturday, November 2, will feature piano virtuoso Bo Lyu performing Dmitri Shostakovich's Concerto no. 2.
Born in Shenyang, China, Bo Lyu began his studies in his home country before moving to London's Royal Academy of Music.
Bo Lyu has performed at prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall and St Martin-in-the-Fields. He has also taught at various institutions, including the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity Laban.
The Shostakovich concerto, composed in 1957 for the composer's son Maxim's 19th birthday, is known for its tunefulness and accessibility.
The work is highly regarded and frequently features on the Classic FM charts.
The concert programme also includes Berlioz's Hungarian March and Gordon Jacob's arrangement of Gustav Holst's Suite in Eb.
The evening will conclude with Anton Bruckner's Symphony no. 4 (Romantic). This symphony, referred to as 'cathedrals in sound', showcases the orchestra's power and tenderness.
The concert starts at 7.15pm and the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra is supporting the Southampton and Isle of Wight Music Trust's Middleton Bursary Scheme, providing financial aid to young musicians in difficult circumstances.
