BBC Radio 4’s Alfie Moore is coming to the Isle of Wight to bring his show to Trinity Theatre in Cowes.

After his successful appearance in 2023 Alfie has agreed to bring his new show, A Face for Radio, to the Island on November 17, at 7.30pm.

Dinah Bowman, President of drama group CAODS which runs the theatre, said:
“With a regular programme on Radio 4, and a hilarious Christmas Day special last year, Alfie has become a star of British comedy.

"With his insight into policing, society and the issues facing us all he is a
genuine ‘National Treasure’. Thus we are delighted that Alfie has agreed to come back to Trinity with his new show."

His performance in Cowes in 2023 was a sell out, so the advice is to book early at www.caods.org.uk

Alfie Moore was told to stop messing about in class before being ‘encouraged’ into the grinding, grimy world of an apprenticeship in the Sheffield steelworks.

When recession hit he traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police.

Thirty years of shift work, initially in the Sheffield steelworks and then as a copper on the beat (where he was punched in the face quite a lot), has left him with ‘a face for radio’.

In his 40s a surprising career shift turned middle-aged Alfie from street cop to BBC radio star.

He told the County Press last year: "You've only got to look at the TV every night on every channel to see cop shows. People are intrigued and want to know more. They have so many questions about it.

"I offer a different angle. A positive and honest voice."
