A popular Isle of Wight pub has been affected by a power outage.

The Chequers Inn in Rookley announced today (Sunday October 20) that the pub had no power.

The pub said in a statement on their Facebook page: "We are currently experiencing a power outage at the Chequers!

"We will be calling round all our customers to inform them of this but they aren’t predicting the power to be back on until 4pm.

"Our sister pubs are open as normal!"

An unplanned power outage has been reported in the Rookley area.

The Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) estimates that the outage affects 72 homes with PO38 postcodes.

Engineers have been called. 

SSEN has not reported when those affected can expect power to be restored.
