An Isle of Wight man, who was stopped by police after they saw him attempting 'wheelies' on an e-scooter, failed to provide a sample because of a 'needle phobia', a court heard.
Appearing at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Friday, October 11, Tyrone Bryan, of Medina Walk Breeze, Newport admitted failing to provide a specimen.
Lauren McConnell, prosecuting, said at 11.35pm on September 18, between South Street and St James Street, Newport, Bryan was riding an e-scooter in the road.
Court heard how he was near police cars while doing so and attempted wheelies and admitted he had been drinking.
Bryan was stopped, asked to provide two roadside breath samples which he did, then was arrested, court heard.

Mrs McConnell said he told officers he would provide a blood sample but when he came to giving it, stated he was too scared.
Police didn't believe he had a needle phobia and so charged him.
Defending, Oscar Vincent, said Bryan was visiting a friend in Newport and borrowed his e-scooter.
Within less than a minute of leaving for a shop, he was stopped by police.
At Newport Police Station he did try to provide a sample but, through no fault of his own, there was an issue with the intoximeter machine which led to them needing to take a blood sample, Mr Vincent said.
He offered to provide a urine sample but officers had already made their decision, Mr Vincent added.
Magistrates handed Bryan a 12 month disqualification and ordered him to pay costs, totalling £253.
