Burger King is remaining tight-lipped on rumours it is planning to open a drive through at Tesco Extra in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

In what would be its second Island branch, the fast food chain is rumoured to be coming to the supermarket, off Brading Road.

The County Press has been told it could be housed at the far end of the car park which, until recently, belonged to the click and collect station.

The former click and collect canopy has already been removed and shoppers now have to go to former parent and child parking spaces at the front of the store.

Once there, they have to scan a QR code and a staff member will come out with the customer's shopping.

It is the second change in the car park in recent months. New time limits have also been imposed on shoppers leaving their vehicles there.

When approached, Burger King said it did not wish to comment.

The current nearest fast food chain to Tesco Extra is McDonald's, which is just a stone's throw away.

The County Press has also contacted Tesco for a comment.
