A popular Isle of Wight vegan cafe has announced with “immeasurable sadness” that it will close its doors for the final time in the new year.

Peach Vegan Kitchen and Zero Waste Store will close after nearly six years of business on St James’ Street in Newport on January 4, 2025.

Peach Vegan Kitchen became known for its commitment to animal welfare, sustainability, and providing a welcoming, safe space.

The County Press visited the owners, Guy Page and Stephanie Norris of Island rock band Coach Party, and reported on the cafe's opening back in 2019.

Despite their passion and dedication, changing economic conditions have made it difficult for the business to remain viable.

While the original business model was sustainable in 2019, Peach Vegan Kitchen said it has struggled to keep up with rising costs and other challenges in recent years.

After tirelessly exploring new ways to keep the cafe going, the owners made the difficult decision that they could not keep their dream alive, and they had “no more to give.”

Taking to social media to make the announcement, the owners, Steph and Guy wrote: “We like to think we have made a difference to people on our beautiful island, whether local or visiting.

“To those who will miss Peach, we want you to know that we are so grateful to you all for being a part of our little cafe.

“We’ve done everything we can to avoid getting to this point.”

They advise customers to use cash when possible, support policies that help small ventures and value quality, sustainability and kindness.

Peach Vegan Kitchen plans to make the most of its remaining time, promising to celebrate its sixth Christmas in style with special events leading up to the closure.

The announcement ended with: “To anyone looking to start a business of their own, please, go for it 100 per cent.

“We have no regrets and have had the time of our lives working for ourselves, being creative, changing minds, creating jobs, and doing something that we believe in with a passion.”
