A crash is causing significant delays on a main road in and out of Newport on the Isle of Wight.

Firefighters and police are in attendance.

One vehicle, a white BMW, is involved in the collision, the County Press has been told.

The road remains open and traffic is being directed by firefighters.

There are lengthy tailbacks as a result.

Update (1.36pm): The road has now been reopened.

Emergency services have recovered the vehicle.

Police said: "We were called at 11:09am today with reports of a single vehicle collision on Racecourse in Newport.

"No injuries were reported and the road has now reopened."
