Brighstone and District Horticultural Society held its autumn show last weekend, attracting nearly 400 entries from 61 entrants.

Held on Saturday, October 5, at Wilberforce Hall and Scout Hut, participants competed across diverse categories, including flowers, vegetables, pot plants, floral art, beverages, photography, art, handicraft, cookery, and children's categories.

The judges were impressed by the quality and number of entries. Several trophies and certificates were awarded to recognise outstanding exhibits.

Gina Leal's Salvador Dali mosaic won the John Cull Memorial Cup for best in show, earning a gold medal certificate.

James Kingswell dominated, winning four trophies, including the Dave Bartlett Shield for most points in show.

Mary Snow, Simon Burrough, and John Harrison were each awarded cups for their top exhibits in the apple, fruit, and flower categories, respectively.

Jan Larter's pot plant, Elaine Squire's floral art, and Sue Castle's handicraft also won their respective categories.

Elaine Squire also secured the photography cup for best exhibit in photography classes.

Ila Bland's autumn collage of an owl, made from dried leaves and seeds, won the children's cup for best in show in the children's classes.

G Joy and Mike Roberts were recognised for their achievements in cookery and wine classes, respectively.
