Europe’s longest-running taiko drumming group is bringing its UK wide tour to the IW, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Mugenkyo, established in 1994, will bring a special show with “big beats” and “vital energy” to Medina Theatre on Friday, October 25.

The tour will take audiences on a journey through the group’s 30-year history, featuring theatrical performances, dynamic choreography, and atmospheric soundscapes.

Mugenkyo is known for its innovative approach to the traditional Japanese drumming art form and has performed worldwide.

The group is set to return with its first major UK tour in almost five years.

During the break, the group has been involved in several projects, including a collaboration with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra on the “World of Gods”.

They also filmed for the Hollywood movie “Tin Soldier” in Greece with Jamie Foxx and Robert De Niro.

In 2024, they plan to continue their journey with a performance described as “electrifying and uplifting”.

The group said: “Join the celebration of Mugenkyo’s landmark 30th anniversary, with a very special show of big beats, visual treats, and vital energy.

“As Europe’s longest-established taiko group, Mugenkyo are widely recognised as the ground-breaking pioneers of this exciting art form.”
