A HISTORIC church on the Isle of Wight will be showing just how 21st century it is by launching a new interactive tour guide — the first of its kind on the Island.
St Mary-the-Virgin Church in Brading will unveil the guide, which can be downloaded onto smartphones, at an event on Saturday, October 12.
It has been in use on the mainland in places ranging from Dorset to Derbyshire, and will now help people explore the church's "rich heritage".

St Mary-the-Virgin recently received a £10,000 grant from the National Heritage Fund, to support the digital storytelling initiative.
Joan Solomon, secretary of the Parochial Church Council, expressed excitement about the new venture.
She said it would help the church "witness through heritage," boost tourism, and support the local economy.
"The church hopes to be part of an Island pilgrimage trail, particularly due to its historical significance as the likely site of the first baptism on the Island," said Joan.

"The congregation has enjoyed creating the tour, which has fostered a stronger sense of community."
The launch event will take place at the church at 12.30pm, offering guests a chance to try out the new interactive tour and enjoy refreshments.
Brading's mayor, Cllr Christine Johnson, and East Wight MP, Joe Robertson, are expected to attend the launch.
