POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 50s suffered serious injuries on the Isle of Wight.

Isle of Wight Ambulance Service paramedics located her at the junction with Kite Hill, Wootton Bridge, sometime between 11pm on Saturday, September 28, and 1am in Sunday, September 29.

She was taken to St Mary's Hospital, Newport, for treatment, where she remains.

Police were contacted yesterday (Friday, October 4) amid concerns raised at the hospital around the severity of her injuries, that they could be consistent with having been hit by a vehicle.
