LOCAL people have been called into action after a whale became stuck on a beach on the Isle of Wight this morning (Saturday, October 5).
The whale, estimated to be about 10ft long, was beached on a stretch between Brook and Isle of Wight Pearl near Brighstone.

HM Coastguard received a report at around 6.30am of a pilot whale stranded on the Isle of Wight.
The couple had also raised the alarm on social media.

Local people initially tried to help move the stranded animal back into the sea, but members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue, which specialise in rescuing whales and dolphins washed up on beaches, is attending the scene.
Needles Coastguard Rescue Team was also tasked.
