Isle of Wight ferry operator Red Funnel has announced its vehicle ferry service has been suspended "until further notice."

The cross-Solent travel provider has confirmed this evening (Thursday, October 3) that all of its East Cowes to Southampton vehicle ferry crossings have been cancelled.

Red Funnel said the suspension is due to a 'technical issue' with vehicle ferry Red Eagle's passenger gangway on its Southampton berth.

Both Red Eagle and Red Falcon remain in Southampton, with Red Osprey and Red Kestrel not in service at the time of the incident.

A spokesperson from Red Funnel said the company apologises for the inconvenience caused to its customer's journeys.

Red Jet foot passenger sailings from Cowes are still running to schedule.
