An Isle of Wight police officer will appear before court next week charged with misconduct in a public office.
PC James Martin is charged following an incident in December 2022, which allegedly led to the wrongful arrest of a member of the public.
The Hampshire and IW Constabulary officer is said to have failed to take immediate action to release the man from custody, once he discovered the arrest was unlawful.
PC Martin is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on October 10.
The officer is currently on directed duties.
