A MAN was arrested on the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Wednesday) in connection with an ongoing investigation following a police pursuit in Sandown.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary says armed response officers arrested a 53-year-old on Station Avenue on suspicion of the following:
- Possession of an offensive weapon in relation to an incident at Premier Inn in Sandown on September 27, wherein members of staff were allegedly threatened with a dog lead.
- Theft, in relation to an incident on October 1, wherein bottles of Stella were allegedly stolen from Poundland in Newport.
The male was also arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
A spokesperson for the force said the suspect tried to run away and police gave chase on E-Bikes.
He remains in police custody at this time.
