TRAFFIC at rush hour on some of the busiest routes on the Isle of Wight is at a standstill, which is causing misery to hundreds of motorists.
The route between Newport and Whippingham, the A3054 along Fairlee Road; the A3021 from the Racecourse Roundabout towards East Cowes; and Lushington Hill into Wootton Bridge; are all affected this afternoon (Tuesday, October 1).
Also, there are traffic problems on Station Road developing where it meets Wootton High Street.
Station Road, Wootton, has been closed, with its junction with Park Road, while Southern Water carry out urgent emergency works.
One County Press reader said: "Fairlee Road is rammed, Station Road in Wooton is closed, Park Road cut through is also rammed."
Another motorist stuck in the traffic on Fairlee Road, said: "Pretty bad, moving slowly."

UPDATE 6.33pm: Traffic appears to be back to normal.
UPDATE 7.27pm: Traffic is being held up by roadworks in Wootton High Street currently.
