An Isle of Wight recycling centre will reopen tomorrow (Tuesday October 1) following a fire.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council has confirmed that the site will reopen after being closed today (Monday September 30) after a fire broke out on Sunday (September 29).

The fire broke out at 7.25pm on Sunday in three large open skips for electronics and furniture, with firefighters containing the blaze after an hour and a half to two bins.

No injuries were reported, with the fire happening outside of the site's opening hours.

The Council aimed for the site to reopen today, but the tip was unsafe due to the skips "still smouldering".

Hampshire and IW Fire and Rescue Service said it does not know the cause of the fire at this stage.
