An Isle of Wight man hit a hole in one on a charity golf day, raising money for an Island charity.

Christian Baxter, from the Isle of Wight, wowed his friends and fellow golfers when he hit a hole in one on a par four hole at Rugby Golf Club.

Christian is battling stage three brain cancer, and took part in the charity day for The Wight Brainy Bunch.

He said: "It gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

"It was a dog leg left where you couldn't see the hole, about 280 yards, and you had to play it down the hill.

"We were looking for it for two or three minutes and then my mate checked the hole!

"To get a hole in one on a day where the charity was about me, is just insane really."

Christian has just finished chemotherapy, and is keeping active by doing CrossFit and playing golf.

He has also been supported by The Wight Brainy Bunch throughout his battle and recovery.

"They paid for my acupuncture and for my family to have counselling.

"They're really supportive, and it's great to have something like that on the Isle of Wight."

Money was raised recently for The Wight Brainy Bunch at Warrior Festival.

The festival, which took place at Robin Hill, saw a range of local bands as well as tribute acts take to the stage.

The charity was set up by Ryde firefighter Mark Grimes, after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2015.

He runs the charity with his wife, Kathryn.
