Due to the height of the flames, fire crews from Newport, Cowes, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor were sent to the Briddlesford Road site at 7.25pm yesterday (Sunday).
The fire broke out in three large open skips for electronics and furniture.
Within around an hour and a half, firefighters were able to contain the blaze to two bins.

Other skips containing electrical, metal and general waste were moved to a safe area for a controlled burn, and fire crews kept “an eye on it overnight.”
By 9.30pm, only two crews from Newport and Cowes remained on site.
Police officers also attended and closed Briddlesford Road.
No injuries have been reported, with the fire happening while the site was closed to the public.
An IW Council spokesperson said the aim was to open Lynnbottom at 10am this morning, but this has not been possible.
In an update, the council confirmed that the skips are “still smouldering” making the site unsafe to open today.
The spokesperson added: “Commercial customers, using the main weighbridge to access the landfill and windrow composting, can still access those sites.”
Hampshire and IW Fire and Rescue Service said it does not know the cause of the fire at this stage.
