AN ISLE of Wight man who burgled the same property three times, and stole a ukelele from another, all in a bid to settle a drug debt, has been sentenced.

Charlie Scriver, of Landguard Road, Shanklin, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Friday, September 27.

The 26-year-old admitted four counts of burglary and a single count of theft, between September and October of last year.

Prosecutor, Keith Hadrill, said Scriver carried out three separate burglaries at the same property on The Willows, in Newport, between September 30 and November 1.

He said he stole multiple items, including alcohol, watches, cash and a child’s Xbox console, as well as a headset and controller.

He went on to steal from Boots in October, caught in the Christmas section filling a suitcase with items, and during a further dwelling burglary in Shanklin, he stole a ukulele valued at around £160.

Scriver admitted taking the items to settle a drug debt.

Jim Osborne, defending, said Scriver lived in sheltered accommodation and his finances were managed by support workers.

He said he suffered from significant mental health issues and had difficulties communicating.

Scriver was made subject of a 12-month community order, to include ten rehabilitation days.
