Sunny spells and patchy cloud will make way for heavy rain this weekend, according to the Isle of Wight Met Service.

Today (Saturday) local forecaster Jamie Russell is predicting a fine, fresh day, with sunny spells and patchy cloud.

Expect temperatures between 13 and 14C, with light to moderate northwest 6-12mph winds.

Tomorrow (Sunday), any early brightness will soon fade away as we see a few showers develop for a time before persistent and sometimes heavy rain arrives later in the afternoon/evening.

Expect temperatures between 15 and 17C, with moderate south 11-19mph winds, becoming gale 28-52mph by the evening.
