A housing provider is continuing its mission to make homes on the Isle of Wight more eco-friendly.

Southern Housing held a Sustainability Revolution event on September 11 and 12 at various locations, including The Riverside Centre in Newport, Freshwater Memorial Hall and Shanklin FC's county ground.

Southern Housing's sustainability team met with local residents and community members.

They discussed how changes to homes, such as insulation, ventilation, and local biodiversity projects, will contribute to a greener future and potentially save residents money on their bills.

Participants also enjoyed games, crafts, and energy advice, and took a virtual tour of an energy-efficient home.

Earlier this year, Southern Housing won a SHIFT Gold Award, recognising its commitment to improving environmental impact.

The organisation, managing 3,690 homes and 504 green spaces on the Island, aims to have 75 per cent of its homes at least EPC Band C by 2025, and reach net zero by 2050.

Jo Butterfield, sustainability engagement lead at Southern Housing said: "It’s been a pleasure to meet residents and talk to them about how we’re helping make communities more eco- friendly.

"It's so important we continue to manage our homes with the environment in mind. And residents joining forces with us to do just this is a driving force that will push us to a better, greener future."
