An Isle of Wight couple who met, by chance, at a bus stop have recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Timothy, 77, and Patricia Stay, 76, were both brought up on the Island, with Pat hailing from Lake and Tim from Brading.

They met whilst Pat was standing at a bus stop waiting to go to work, and Tim saw her as he drove past.

Tim and Pat married on September 15, 1974, at the Good Shepherd Church in Lake and had their reception at the Ponda Rosa in Ashey.

She worked as a receptionist at a Sandown caravan park, then spent time as a stay-at-home mum before working at Butterfly World.

Tim worked as a blacksmith in Brading and enjoyed horse riding from an early age.

He also enjoys a few tipples with his friends in the local pubs, playing darts and cribbage.

The pair celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Sandown and Shanklin Golf Club with around 80 guests.
