A man has admitted assaulting two women at the bar of an Isle of Wight holiday park after being refused more alcohol.
Leon Beckwith, of Oaklyn Gardens, Shanklin, attended the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 13, and pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating.
Lauren Stone, prosecuting, said the 32-year-old was at Landguard Holiday Park’s clubhouse in Shanklin on August 29 when bar staff refused to serve him because he had consumed too much alcohol.
Ms Stone told the court an argument ensued, which saw Beckwith shout and swear at staff in the presence of families and children.
One of the guests intervened, telling him to leave as kids were in the clubhouse, the court heard.
Ms Stone said Beckwith got into the guest's face and threw a drink he was holding into her face, and security intervened, asking Beckwith to go outside.
Court heard that Beckwith was taken to the floor by a security guard but in the process, was hit in the face – causing a cut to the lip and swelling – and attempts to bite the security guard were made.
The security guard said it “makes her feel angry that someone thinks they can assault her, especially in front of children,” said Ms Stone.
Jim Osborne, defending, told the court Beckwith has mental health issues and ADHD.
Magistrates adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report.
Beckwith will be sentenced on November 29.
