PLANS for a new marina in East Cowes have been announced as part of Cowes Harbour Commission’s (CHC) ‘fit for the future’ strategic vision.

It follows feedback from stakeholders and visitors to Cowes, and CHC says it is in the process of finalising plans for a new 135-berth, walk-ashore marina.

CHC has revealed the new marina will have a minimum berth length of 7m and has been designed to cater to both recreational boaters and luxury yacht enthusiasts.

It will offer a wide range of modern amenities, creating more opportunity for future sailing regattas.

"We are excited to be bringing this new facility to East Cowes,” said Gary Hall, Cowes Harbour Commission chief executive.

“The proposed marina will sit within the wider economic regeneration plans and add value to both marine and local services, with restaurants, pubs and local facilities also benefitting.”

Karl Love, ward councillor for East Cowes, said: “East Cowes is an important redevelopment area for our entire Island, attracting significant public and private investments which is vital to our long-term prosperity.

“I welcome inspirational, sustainable, and environmentally friendly developments such as this for our community.

“Working together enables a shared responsibility and wider community engagement for shaping futures, sustaining industries, and securing employment.

“I look forward to seeing this proposal being developed.

“Together, we can be creative and shape a brighter future for all Island people and visitors.”
