Isle of Wight guitarist Sol Grimshaw performed live on BBC Radio 3 last week as part of presenter Sean Rafferty’s weekday show.

Playing with gypsy jazz group the Fidelio Hot Club, Sol performed alongside Ray Rafols on violin, Cornelius Corkery on guitar and Toby Yapp on double bass.

The group performed Dvořák’s Songs My Mother Taught Me, Piazzolla’s Libertango, Irving Berlin’s My Walking Stick and Django Reinhardt’s Troublant Bolero.

The live recording is available to listen to until Sunday, October 6, here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0022c6q

Speaking about performing live on Radio 3, Sol said: “It was such an exciting experience! Sean Rafferty is an excellent host and we all loved being at the BBC.

"When the red light came on after the news, there was a little pressure in the back of my mind knowing we were going out live!”

In August, Sol took to the stage at Newport's Strings Bar and Venue with the Panama Picnic Orchestra, performing with Island musician and his dad, JC Grimshaw.

In 2023, Sol headlined the Isle of Wight Jazz Weekend and spoke to the Isle of Wight County Press beforehand.
