POLICE have arrested a woman suspected of a string of shoplifting offences in Isle of Wight towns, assaults and a burglary.
Officers were called to a report of shoplifting at Sports Direct, in South Street, Newport, shortly before 11.20am on Thursday last week (5 September).
A 31-year-old woman from Newport was subsequently arrested on suspicion of several shoplifting offences, assault by beating of an emergency worker, common assault and a burglary.
The alleged burglary took place in the West Country.
She has since been released on conditional police bail, pending further inquiries.
