Three Islanders have been recognised for long time services to Girlguiding and the Trefoil Guild.

Lynda Allen, Tina Lambourne and Jenny Anscombe were all presented awards of recognition.

Lynda was given a 40 years of service badge by Assistant Island Commissioner Donna Sanders-Steel and the High Sheriff Graham Biss.

From Bembridge, Lynda came to Island Guiding following time as a Brownie Leader in Germany.

She was a district guider in East Wight, and held the executive post of county secretary for seven years.

In 1997, Lynda was appointed Island commissioner, chairing the executive committee and leading a team of eight district commissioners and a number of special advisors.

In 2004, she was appointed community action advisor, and in 2009, Lynda became the county Trefoil Guild chair.

Jenny and Tina also received awards, having entertained members of the Trefoil Guild at garden parties over a number of years.

They received awards in recognition of service to the Trefoil Guild from Carol Firth, the present county Trefoil chair.

The presentation was attended by those also celebrating decades of volunteering, as well as newer members to the fold.

The High Sheriff congratulated those who had completed years of service and also welcomed the newcomers, saying that those who volunteer to help others really help in the Island's communities.
