The Isle of Wight will once again have an evening pharmacy after the closure of Lloyds Pharmacy in Sainsbury's.
Gibbs and Gurnell Pharmacy in Ryde will now be open until 8.30pm on weekdays.
This means that since the closure of Lloyds Pharmacy in Sainsbury's, there will now be a pharmacy open on the Isle of Wight after 6.30pm on weekdays.
The pharmacy will offer all essential, advanced, and enhanced services during the extended opening period, including the Pharmacy First Service and the Pharmacy Contraception Service.
Neil Hardy, chief pharmacist for NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, said: "We are delighted that we can now provide residents on the Isle of Wight with access to a community pharmacy during the evenings on Monday to Friday as it is such an important service.
"Local community pharmacists are here to help and are able to provide people with expert advice on how to treat many common health conditions such as sore throats and urinary tract infections.
"They can also give advice regarding medications or direct people to the right service if they need further support."
The new evening service has been commissioned by NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
