A renowned headteacher has officially left an Isle of Wight school, it has been confirmed.
Joy Ballard, who has been principal at Ryde Academy for nearly a decade, has decided to 'retire', the school has said.
In July, the County Press reported Mrs Ballard had stepped back from her role due to 'personal reasons'.
At the time, Academies Enterprise Trust (AET), which runs the school, said vice principal Will Doyle would act as interim head.

In a letter to parents last week, regional education director Karl Sampson confirmed Mrs Ballard 'retired this summer' after 30 years in education.
The letter said: "On behalf of everyone at Ryde and Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) more widely, I’d like to thank Mrs Ballard for her commitment to the school and everything that has been achieved under her leadership.
"We wish her all the best for the future and a happy retirement."
AET said it would begin a 'national recruitment process' for a new principal this month, with a view to a new leader starting in 2025.
"In the meantime, Mr Doyle will be leading the school day to day as our interim principal, and will be supported by me", Mr Sampson said.
Mrs Ballard shot to prominence after appearing on TV show, Educating Cardiff.
She was appointed head at Ryde Academy in 2015.
The County Press has contacted AET for a statement but, at the time of press, had not received a response.
