SO FAR, September has been an extremely wet month, with a local weather warning in place as more rain is set to fall on the Isle of Wight this weekend.
The Isle of Wight Met Service has issued a yellow weather warning for rain, from 10pm tonight (Saturday, September 7), thought to 7pm tomorrow night (Sunday, September 8).
The national Met Office followed suit with their own yellow warning this morning (Saturday) — active from 9pm today until 6pm tomorrow.
The Met Office had earlier forecast a 40 per cent or more chance of rainfall on the Island between 12 noon today and 7pm tomorrow (Sunday).
In his latest forecast, Jamie Russell, of the Isle of Wight Met Service, said: "Heavy showers will develop overnight tonight (Saturday) and into tomorrow (Sunday) bringing localised downpours, possibly accompanied by thunder and lightning in places.
"Whilst some locations may only see a few millimetres' worth of rainfall, other areas could potentially see as high as 30-40mm falling in a relatively short space of time — and perhaps (some weather forecasting models suggest) localised totals of 50-60mm."
Yesterday (Friday) was a miserable day across the Isle of Wight, with heavy rain falling for most of the day.

Jamie continued: "However, it should be noted that this isn't widespread rainfall, so not everywhere will see the downpours.
"There is also a chance that the majority could just about miss the island (with some uncertainty), although a direct hit would certainly result in some very high rainfall totals, so we have issued a warning to cover this."
