August was another record breaking month for the ever-growing Isle of Wight County Press website.

The newsroom again recorded its best month yet for for both page views and page visits - meaning more readers than ever before are reading countypress.co.uk for trusted local news.

Not only is the County Press the most visited news website on the Isle of Wight, but is also the highest in page views too, recording 2.05 million visits in July and an incredible 3.08 million visits in August (source: SimilarWeb).

Monthly visits were significantly ahead of any other local media.

Wednesday, August 7, saw the highest visitor numbers in a single day ever for the County Press.

The figures have been bolstered by the team of professional journalists getting out into their community to find and cover local stories. They have been everywhere from new business to police cordons, court rooms to council meetings.

The team has been bolstered by two new recruits in August - digital reporter Alex Cooper and Local Democracy Reporter Rufus Pickles.

Alex's first day on the job was spent with the actor Miriam Margolyes.

In addition to our online growth, the print newspaper continues to be a popular purchase each week.

The paper is the biggest selling local weekly newspaper in the entire country.

However, wherever our readers are in the world, they can read the County Press from cover to cover thanks to our digital edition, available exclusively to subscribers by clicking here.

The County Press has now moved out of its offices at Brannon House on Pyle Street, which has been purchased by local charity Friends of the Animals.

Our Island-based team will soon be working from state-of-the-art facilities at the Innovation Centre, St Cross Business Park, Newport.

County Press editor Lori Little said: “These days we can do our jobs with a smart phone and a laptop and we don't need as much space as we used to.

“I’m glad our building, which has served us so well over the years, will be left in the caring hands of Friends of the Animals.”
