Isle of Wight weather warning for heavy rain in force

But a second alert, from the Met Office, no longer includes the Island.

Local forecaster IW Met Service is predicting 'localised torrential downpours' across the day.

Jamie Russell, who runs the service, says the warning will remain in place until 7pm tonight.

He said: "The current data suggests that the Island may be directly under the main band for at least some of the time, leading to rainfall totals in the range of 40-60mm, but this is also by no means certain as one or two of the models are producing a forecast of closer to 80-100mm of rainfall!"

His warning was first issued at 9am yesterday (Thursday).

Meanwhile, a Met Office warning was in place for the Island from midnight to midnight.

While it remains the case for other parts of the south, the Island is no longer included.
