An Isle of Wight care agency is celebrating 25 years of providing support to Islanders in their homes.

Founded by Brian William Ginders in 1999, Acorn Care Service started in a small office in Godshill.

At first, the company supported a small number of individuals but it quickly grew and began working with social services and the NHS.

In August 2003, the agency became a private limited company and relocated to bigger offices in Sandown.

When Brian died in 2020, his son Marc took the reins and continues running the family business in his honour, as managing director.

Today, the company employs 62 staff and supports around 60 Islanders.

Service user, Sarah, from Ryde, said: "I’ve only been with Acorn Care for about five or six weeks but since I’ve been with them, they’ve made it so much better for me.

"They've listened to what I needed, even the times of my calls, they’re all so friendly, plus they don’t mind my son chatting to them and interrupting!"

Natasha, daughter of one of the service users, said: "My mother enjoys a cup of tea and chat with her carers and we are always involved with mum's care plan".
