Wightlink will host an event celebrating Isle of Wight suppliers on Ryde Pier over the weekend.

Local produce will take centre stage with breweries Wight Knuckle and Island Ales, and Shandy Shack providing the beverages.

The Mermaid Gin Bar and Wightlink's Wight Taste outlet inside the terminal will also serve their usual range of refreshments.

Music accompaniment will come from Island-based Crystals Disco.

The event, Beer on the Pier, will operate from 11am to 7.30pm on Saturday, and 11am to 6pm on Sunday.

In addition, the last seagoing paddle steamer, Waverley, will pay Ryde Pier a visit on Saturday as part of its Isle of Wight circumnavigation.

The same weekend will also see the Cider and Cheese Festival hosted by the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and the Great Wight Bite food and drink festival in Cowes.

Wightlink commercial director Phil Delaney said: "Summer’s not over yet, so this is your chance to enjoy a drink with spectacular sea views and disco tunes at the end of Ryde Pier.

"We are proud to sell some of the Isle of Wight’s finest produce and want to spread the word about our suppliers."
