Rowing clubs from the Island have competed at a large mainland event.

Ryde Rowing Club and Shanklin-Sandown Rowing Club both competed at Southsea Rowing Regatta. 

Ryde Rowing Club's coastal junior four Ben Robotham, Isaac Gibson, Joe Roberts and Yogi Ashworth saw success, winning their final.

The girls J16 coxed quad of Mai Read, Lottie Pettitt, Emily Kellerman and Alexis Owen and Ruby Read (cox), won their race.

The Men's novice four, made up of Ruben Brook, Fin Diffey, Lucas Georgiou and Max Locke and Lottie Pettitt (cox), were awarded second place in their final.

Sandown-Shanklin Rowing Club also enjoyed success over the weekend, with the J14 girls crew of Poppy, Connie Batley-Smith, Rose Collier, Layla Katirewa and Esme Walters (cox) winning the first event of the day.

Daisy Faithfull won the ladies' senior sculls event, and Ethan Walters and Fred Giemza-Pipe won the men's double sculls event.

Fred Katirewa and Beth Katirewa claimed runner-up accolades in the junior and novice single sculls events, respectively.

Both clubs will now prepare for the finale of the coastal rowing calendar at Netley, Southampton on September 14.
