Isle of Wight ferry firm Wightlink has cancelled a sailing on its Fishbourne to Portsmouth route.

The cross-Solent operator is blaming "the absence of an essential member of our crew".

The 7.40am from Fishbourne to Portsmouth is off, as a result.

A spokesperson for the firm said: "If you’re booked on this sailing, we’ll be in touch with you directly to let you know what you can do.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

It's unclear whether the absence will affect further sailings throughout the day.

Currently, all other crossings are scheduled to run as a normal.
