Around 60 people attended a vibrant poetry reading event at Quarr Abbey.

The event took place on August 19, an early Monday evening following Vespers.

Local poets displayed a range of topics to an engaging audience, with Fr. Luke extending a warm welcome.

Maggie Sawkins, a regular at the abbey bookshop, read from her limited-edition collection Harebell, featuring haiku inspired by Island life.

Blake Everitt presented meditative nature-focused poems, drawing from deep observation.

Edmund Matyjaszek participated by reciting poems from his published collections about Walsingham, the Rosary, and Isle of Wight's life and scenery, some of which have appeared in the IW Catholic History Society's newsletters.

Abbot Xavier expressed appreciation to the poets on behalf of the gathered audience.
